One of the most common reasons people talk themselves out of a security career is a simple one: they assume they need experience to get started. They don't. Some of the best officers came in with none at all. What matters far more than a resume full of security jobs is the right temperament, and the willingness to learn the rest. The rest is something we teach.

It starts with the fundamentals, not on-the-job guesswork. Before you're responsible for a property, you learn how to patrol effectively, how to control access, how to observe and report accurately, and how to handle the situations the job actually puts in front of you. You also learn the part people underestimate: how to de-escalate. Talking a tense moment back down is a skill, and it's one we deliberately build rather than leaving you to figure out on your own.

From there, you're not dropped in alone. New officers work alongside experienced ones who know the site and the standard, so you learn how things actually run in the real world, not just in a manual. Questions are expected. Nobody is supposed to have it all figured out in week one, and pretending otherwise is how mistakes happen.

The training also doesn't stop once you're settled. As you take on more, there's more to learn, and there are paths into specialized roles for people who want them. The officer who shows up, pays attention, and takes ownership is the officer who gets the next opportunity. Growth here is earned, and it's available.

What we can't train is the core of it. We're looking for people who are dependable, observant, and steady when things get tense, the kind of person who notices what's off and takes it seriously. If that describes you, the lack of a security background isn't a problem. It's just the part we'll handle.

Plenty of people in this industry started exactly where you are right now, unsure if they qualified. The ones who reached out found out they did.
